• Osun govt inaugurates panels to probe violence allegations
• Wike: I told Adeleke to reaffirm his support for Tinubu’s re-election after polls

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the state chapter of the Accord Party (AP), yesterday, met with the party’s stakeholders, warning members against activities capable of threatening the electoral victory of the party.

They said that severe sanctions await members or leaders who indulge in anti-party activities.

A statement by Adeleke’s Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, noted several reports of AP members allegedly backing candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), All Peoples Party (APP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that members or leaders caught in such acts will face severe disciplinary actions.

Meanwhile, Adeleke also used the forum to commend party members for their steadfast support during the turbulent electioneering process.

MEANWHILE, Osun State Government has inaugurated two investigative bodies to examine alleged violence and unlawful activities reported before and after the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.

The panels were inaugurated yesterday at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall, Abere, by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Jimi-Bada, on behalf of Adeleke.

The panels will investigate alleged incidents of violence, intimidation, assault, destruction of property, unlawful possession or use of weapons, among other unlawful activities.

Jimi-Bada said the government constituted the commission in response to reports, petitions and concerns raised by members of the public regarding the incidents.

HOWEVER, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, yesterday, said he told Adeleke to issue a statement declaring his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

Wike, who spoke during his monthly media chat with selected journalists in Port Harcourt, said he influenced Adeleke to make the move in fulfilment of his promise to support Tinubu’s second-term bid.

He said the move was aimed at preventing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from luring the governor into its camp.
