2027 General Elections: Police to develop security road map at CARSPO 2026

The Nigeria Police Force is set to develop a comprehensive security road map for the 2027 general elections at its sixth Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers scheduled to hold in Owerri, Imo State.

The three-day conference, billed for September 21 to 23, 2026, is themed, “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, saying the retreat would provide a strategic platform for senior police commanders, security experts and other stakeholders to assess emerging threats and strengthen preparations for the elections.

According to him, discussions will focus on intelligence-led policing, police-community partnerships, digital technologies, artificial intelligence and other modern approaches to election security.

Iniedu said the conference would also produce actionable strategies for protecting voters, electoral officials, candidates, election materials and the general public before, during and after the 2027 elections.

He said the initiative was part of the police leadership’s broader efforts towards institutional reform, professionalisation and enhanced operational readiness.

The Force spokesperson reaffirmed the commitment of the police to ensuring a peaceful, safe and secure environment for the country’s next general elections.

Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lenders Consult International, Shina Philips, said the organisation had continued to mobilise sponsorship for the conference since receiving approval to organise the event.

Philips described the initiative as part of the organisation’s contribution to supporting the Nigeria Police Force, while urging Nigerians to support the police in the discharge of their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property and maintaining public order.

He said the conference had evolved over the years into an international platform for the exchange of ideas and adoption of modern policing methods, just as He thanked the inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu for the support to organise CARSPO 2026.

Philips pledged Lenders Consult International’s continued partnership with the police authorities to ensure the conference delivers innovative and practical policing solutions.

The event is expected to attract senior police officers, security professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders who will deliberate on emerging security threats and strengthen the nation’s preparedness for the 2027 general elections.
