The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) sustained positive sentiments yesterday as investors’ wealth appreciated by N238.37 billion, amid renewed buying interest in bluechips.
The market capitalisation of listed equities increased from N158.91 trillion at the close of trading on Wednesday to N159.15 trillion on Thursday, representing a gain of N238.37 billion.
The All-Share Index, which measures the performance of quoted companies, also advanced by 369.05 points, rising from 246,019.17 points to 246,388.22 points.
On the price movement chart, Seplat Energy led the gainers chart, appreciating by 10 per cent to close at N13,552.60.
UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust followed with a 9.88 per cent gain, to close at N13.90 kobo, while Learn Africa appreciated by 9.49 per cent to close at N8.65 kobo.
Regency Alliance Insurance gained 4.76 per cent to close at 88 kobo, while Jaiz Bank rose by 4.22 per cent to close at N8.65 kobo. WAPIC increased by 4.18 per cent to close at N2.49 kobo while UPDC gained 2.82 per cent to close at N3.65 kobo.
VFD Group advanced by 2.63 per cent to close at N11.70 kobo, FCMB rose by 1.71 per cent to close at N11.90 kobo. Dangote Sugar also appreciated by 1.41 per cent to close at N72..
However, RT Briscoe declined by 10 per cent decline to close at N9.90 kobo, while Sovereign Trust Insurance declined by 9.73 per cent to close at N2.04 kobo. Abbey Mortgage Bank dropped by 9.68 per cent to close at N7. Daar Communications lost 8.28 per cent to close at N1.55 kobo.
Nascon Industries fell by 8.03 per cent to close at N161.40 kobo, while Aradel Holdings declined by 5.84 per cent to close at N1,450.
NEM Insurance shed 4.93 per cent to close at N32.75 kobo. AIICO Insurance dropped 4.63 per cent to close at N3.91 kobo, Thomas Wyatt declined 3.85 per cent to close at N2.50 kobo while Oando also lost 3.39 per cent to close at N37.
On the sectoral index, the Oil and Gas Index advancing from 5,473.07 points to 5,594.51 points.
However, the NGX Insurance Index fell from 1,156.03 points to 1,132.93 points.
