The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi has delivered an electrifying message to Rivers State residents yesterday, urging them to ensure that every vote counts in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Speaking at the NDC Obi-Talks town hall, Obi called for unity and vigilance, emphasizing that the future of Nigeria hinges on the commitment of its citizens to participate actively in the democratic process.
While writing on his X-Handle on Friday, he said: “We cannot afford to sit idle while our future is at stake,” Obi declared passionately. “Your votes are your power, and it is time to make them count! Every ballot cast represents our collective voice, and together, we can achieve real change.”
Highlighting the importance of free and fair elections, Obi criticised past electoral processes marred by violence and malpractice, insisting that only through a transparent system can true leaders emerge.
“The people of Rivers State must stand firm and demand accountability from those who seek office,” he urged. “It is your right to ensure that your votes are counted and your mandate respected.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the party stakeholders who made the event possible, saying: “I sincerely thank our Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and our host and Rivers State Governorship Candidate, Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, for their support and participation.
“I also appreciate his team, the Rivers State Working Committee of the NDC, the National Working Committee led by our National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, as well as all our friends, supporters and well-wishers who joined us for this important engagement.”
Obi’s call to action resonated deeply with the audience, which included local leaders and engaged citizens eager for reform. He promised to prioritize education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation if elected, framing these issues as pivotal for Nigeria’s progress.
As he concluded, Obi’s message was clear: “The time for change is now, and it starts with you. Let us prepare to vote in 2027 like never before, ensuring every voice counts!”
Rivers voters left the event energized, ready to promote a new political era where their participation makes a significant difference.
