Experts in the entertainment industry, artistes and comedians have called on the government to create an enabling environment for young talents to develop their skills, build sustainable careers and contribute to national development.
The call was made at the third edition of Zikky On Fire, organised at Lapiz Lounge, Badore, Ajah, Lagos.
Mr Isaac Gabriel Chief Executive Officer of Zikky Media Concepts said at the event that greater government support for the creative industry would create opportunities for young people and help reduce unemployment, crime and social restiveness.
Sir Zikky explained that government support could come through the provision of modern performance spaces and production facilities, as well as grants, financial incentives and other forms of assistance for upcoming comedians, artistes, skit makers and independent content creators.
He also stressed the importance of protecting intellectual property through stronger enforcement against piracy and unauthorised use of creative works, noting that proper royalty systems would enable entertainers to benefit financially from their talents.
Zikky added that entertainers can use social media to promote their brands, industry experts noted that platforms such as social media can help creatives turn their talents into recognisable brands by expanding their audience, encouraging direct engagement and creating opportunities for sustainable income.
Speaking at the event, Ace entertainer Crazy Egbon of Wazobia FM encouraged young entertainers to remain committed to developing their talents and mastering their crafts.
He urged emerging creatives to own their talents and take their careers seriously, stressing that hard work, consistency and dedication are essential for success in the entertainment industry.
Crazy Egbon who also performed, commended Sir Zikky, describing him as a humble goal-getter, charismatic personality and someone committed to helping artistes and comedians become relevant and reach the pinnacle of their careers.
According to him, Zikky’s efforts go beyond entertainment, as the initiative also contributes to empowering young people and creating positive impact in society.
It was also graced by Ambassador Kelly Blind, Wazobia FM,Crazy Egbon, Tony Wonders,
Ambassador Ezenwaka Moses Chukwuma CEO 7Stars Interglobal Ltd , Mecorn, Fiva, OJ Style and AK Gunshot.
Other performers who thrilled the audience included Katty Stargirl, Sexy Slim and a group of dancers, among others.
The third edition of Zikky On Fire featured entertainers across comedy, music and stage performance.
Zikky On Fire is an entertainment brand created to unveil the different artistic abilities of its founder, including MCing, acting, event management and artist management.
Recounting the history of the brand, Sir Zikky recalled that the first edition was held in 2015, featuring Kassandra Odita, Ajuju (Change) and Tony Wonders.
The second edition followed in 2019, featuring Monkalz, Tony Wonders, Ajaba and MC Sweet Mouth.
At the third edition, individuals and organisations that supported the event were recognised for their contributions. Among the sponsors and supporters acknowledged were Nnenno’s Global Venture, Flexy Fashion, House of Ella, AVF Printing Press and BFK, while plaques were presented in appreciation of their support.
The event also provided an avenue for entertainers to showcase their creativity through comedy, music, dance and stage performances, attracting guests and entertainment enthusiasts.
