The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man identified as Kola following an allegation that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy on three occasions in Adigbe, Abeokuta.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, ordered detectives to intensify efforts to locate and arrest the suspect after the teenager, accompanied by his parent, reported the alleged abuse at the Adigbe Police Division on September 8, 2026.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Abeokuta yesterday.
According to Babaseyi, the teenager told the police that Kola allegedly sexually assaulted him three times in January 2026 and subsequently threatened him to keep the incidents secret.
Following the complaint, the teenager was taken to a hospital in the Adigbe area for medical examination, while detectives commenced an investigation into the allegation.
Babaseyi said the incident did not come to the attention of the police until the victim and his parent formally reported it on September 8.
He added that the suspect had since gone into hiding, prompting the Commissioner of Police to direct detectives to intensify efforts to track him down.
The police spokesperson assured the public that the allegation was being handled with urgency, professionalism and sensitivity.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons, while urging anyone with useful information that could assist in locating the suspect to make it available to the police.
