Nollywood powerhouse, Funke Akindele, has once again proven that her creative reach extends far beyond the director’s chair. Ahead of the December 11 theatrical release of her highly anticipated blockbuster, The Four: No One Fights Alone, the multi-award-winning screen diva has united with three of the industry’s formidable talents — Waje, Bisola Aiyeola, and Chioma Chukwuka — to record the official soundtrack, titled, Ore Mi.

Produced by Tolu Obanro, popularly known as Tyanx, the track is a soulful, evocative composition that serves as the emotional heartbeat of the film: the strength and tenderness of real friendship. It moves fluidly between English, Yoruba, and Igbo.

Rather than opting for a generic promotional single, the quartet stepped into the booth to craft something deeply personal and culturally resonant. “Bisola, Waje, Chioma and I did a thing. We got into the studio to create one of the soundtracks for The Four, and we wanted to make something that felt personal and familiar.

“Something with that beautiful folktale feeling we grew up with, telling stories through music; especially stories of friendship, love, and the bond we share,” Akindele wrote with excitement as she announced the song’s release across major streaming platforms.

She noted that the folktale feeling in the song isn’t incidental; it’s the entire premise of the film. According to the actress, director and film producer, the creative vision was to capture the nostalgic warmth of traditional storytelling.

The Four follows Esosa and three fiercely loyal women whose devotion to a young man they love tests their courage, faith and unity to breaking point.

Casting the same real-life energy between Akindele, Waje, Aiyeola and Chukwuka into a song about sisterhood turns Ore Mi into something closer to a companion piece than a marketing add-on — four women who share genuine chemistry on screen, extending that same bond into the recording booth.

Blending rich harmonies with evocative lyricism, Ore Mi bridges generations, celebrating the kind of communal bonds that define the African experience. With the song already circulating and fans creating their own friendship videos, Akindele has once again turned pre-release buzz into something audiences can participate in, not just watch for.

Following the massive success of her 2024 holiday collaboration, which saw her team up with music superstars like Falz and D’banj for Everybody Loves Christmas, a strategic fusion of music and cinema is becoming Akindele’s rollout signature hallmark.
