Rotarian Winifred Ebiye has been sworn-in as the Charter President, Rotary Club of Bourdillon Prestige.

Speaking during her investiture ceremony in Lagos, she said: “It is with gratitude and a great sense of responsibility that I accept the privilege of serving as the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Bourdillon Prestige.

“My Rotary journey began in 2006, when my Rotary father, PDG Mightyman Dikuro, introduced me to the Rotary Club of University of Benin. I could not have imagined then where that introduction would lead.

“Over the years, Rotary has taught me that leadership is about relationships, responsibility and, above all, service. The Rotary Club of Bourdillon Prestige may be a new club, but our members have a strong commitment to service. We got chartered on July 14, 2026, with 17 members, and today we welcome six new members.”

She added that just ten days after charter, the club executed three service projects, and have delivered seven projects across healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, youth development.

Chairman, 2026 Investiture Planning Committee, Rotarian Nduneche Ezurike, said: “Our name carries an obligation. For us, prestige is not about titles or status; it must be earned through the lives we touch. That is the meaning of our slogan: “Prestige through Service.”

Nigeria Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Major General Ike Omar Sanda Nwachukwu, (Rtd.) listed the qualities of leadership that is needed in Nigeria.

Speaking as the keynote speaker, he mentioned character, being knowledge, clear headedness. He also said a good leader must have integrity, be flexibility, and have a sense of humour.

“You must also have compassion and have strategic thinking, personal discipline and accountability, effective communication skills and a sense of fairness, equity and justice. You must also have the quality to respect the rule of law and humility.”

He maintained that leadership is about inspiring others by sharing the visions and work together towards common goals while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the followership at all levels.
