KADGIS Resolves Over 5,000 Land Disputes In Kaduna – DG

The Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has resolved over 5,000 land disputes and reinstated more than 150 titles that were unjustly revoked in the last three and half years in the State.

The Director General of KADGIS, Dr Bashir Garba Ibrahim who disclosed this at a townhall meeting, said that Governor Uba Sani has directed the agency to resolve all cases that were inherited from past administrations.

Ibrahim also said that KADGIS has introduced reforms to ease land administration in Kaduna State under the present administration.

The DG listed ‘’land agents’ registration and accreditation as one of the key reforms, including providing National Identification Number(NIN) and Bank Verification Number(BVN) for land title processing.’’

He further disclosed that communities that were ‘’displaced at Alhudahuda Zaria, following the demolition of 92 houses in 2015, have been given alternative plots.’’

‘’The dispute between Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria, and Graceland community, where over 200 properties were demolished in 2021 over alleged land encroachment, has also been resolved,’’ he added.

Besides, it would be recalled that the incident of property demolition was heightened under the past Government of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

The Director General also disclosed that ‘’new land titles and alternative plots have been given to former residents of Malali lowcost Kaduna, whose houses numbering 80 were demolished in 2021.’’

He further disclosed that the land titles of CANES Properties has been restored, adding that SCOA has been given alternative plots at Kudenden, just as the dispute between Olam and host community has been resolved.

IiIbrahim argued that the town hall meeting which was attended by professional bodies, traditional leaders, land agents, government agencies and other stakeholders, was convened to strengthen ‘’transparency, efficiency and citizens-centred land administration in Kaduna State.’’
