The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Lead City University, Odu’a Investment Company Limited and Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu have urged accountants and professional firms to embrace innovation and emerging technologies while upholding ethics and others

They gave the charge during the 70th anniversary celebration of HLB Z. O. Ososanya & Co., held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

President and Chairman of the Council of ICAN, Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, represented by a member of the institute’s Governing Council, Mrs Olaitan Babatunde, said the evolving accountancy profession required practitioners and firms to adapt to changing technologies and regulatory demands without compromising the values that sustain public confidence.

Also, Awolowo-Dosumu, said professional institutions must embrace technology and new opportunities without abandoning the values upon which they were founded.

Awolowo-Dosumu, Chairman of ANN Plc, said the seven-decade journey of HLB Z. O. Ososanya & Co. demonstrated the importance of professionalism, integrity, trust and enduring relationships in building institutions capable of surviving across generations.

Vice-Chancellor of Lead City University, Prof. Kabiru Adeyemo, represented by Oluwatosin Adesina, warned against the weakening of Nigeria’s economic reforms through what he described as “erosion by convenience.”

Earlier, Managing Partner of HLB Z. O. Ososanya & Co., Babatunde Kolawole, said the firm had embraced digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform its accounting and professional services.

Kolawole said the firm had moved from traditional manual audit, taxation, secretarial and consulting processes to digital platforms and cloud-based systems.

Director, Finance, Mr Biodun Bamiduro, described HLB Z. O. Ososanya & Co. as an institution built on integrity, professionalism and excellence.
