Yobe partners Russia to develop agro-allied, power projects

The Yobe State Government, has partnered the Russian investors to harness and develop the various agro-allied and power projects in the state.

Legion Investment Moscow (LivM), has commenced discussions on the establishment of a gas-powered electricity generation plants to ensure reliable and sustainable energy for the state Agro-Industrial hubs

A delegation of the Russian investors on Monday, in Damaturu paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni, ahead of the technical engagements and field inspection to enhance the investment partnership between the state government and Russia.

The team, led by Leonid Khasiev, was accompanied by the company’s technical consultant, Rasim Azimov, said: “Our team was on an investment and technical assessment mission on the agro-allied and power projects in Yobe state.”.

He said the investment delegation is in the State to inspect the proposed project sites, assess the technical and investment requirements, and engage relevant authorities towards the proposed energy solution for the Agro-Industrial zone.

The proposed gas-powered plant is intended to provide a stable and dependable source of electricity to support agro-processing, manufacturing, storage, cold-chain facilities and other businesses expected to operate within the Agro-Industrial Zone.

The Russian engagement forms part of Yobe state’s broader economic efforts to transform the agricultural sector from predominantly primary production into a more integrated system, comprising production, aggregation, processing, storage, logistics and market access.

Buni explained that the partnership would enhance state’s growing efforts to attract international investors and strategic technical partners capable of supporting the State’s development priorities.

He, therefore appreciated the Legion Investment Moscow for its interest in Yobe State and looks forward to constructive engagements that could contribute to the realization of the Agro-Industrial Zone and create opportunities for job creation, value addition, industrial development and increased investment in the agricultural sector.

“Yobe State remains committed to building strategic partnerships that will unlock the economic potential of its agricultural resources and position the State as an attractive destination for agro-industrial investments,” he emphasised.
