So-Safe Corps arrests two Beninese over alleged theft

Suspects with recovered stolen pumping machines

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested two Beninese, identified as Monday and Vovo, over the alleged theft of pumping machines at Ajambata, Sokoto Road, Atan-Ota, Ogun State.

The suspects were arrested on Monday, October 5, 2026, following a distress call from members of the community who reported that some men had been caught with pumping machines allegedly stolen from a burgled premises.

The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta yesterday.

Ganzallo said operatives on patrol in the area responded immediately to the report and apprehended the suspects.

He said preliminary interrogation revealed that both suspects were natives of Cotonou, Benin Republic.

Monday reportedly told the operatives that he had been living in Atan for several years, while Vovo said he arrived in the area a few months ago.

According to the commander, Monday denied personally accompanying Vovo to remove the pumping machines but admitted that he usually helped to find buyers for stolen items. Vovo reportedly confirmed the claim.

Ganzallo said the suspects and recovered exhibits were taken to the Atan Area Command, where three individuals identified and claimed the recovered items.

He added that the suspects had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Atan Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Ganzallo reiterated the corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly provide useful information to security agencies to assist them in carrying out their lawful duties.
