Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has released a directory of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) state coordinators across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to improve survivors’ access to support services.
The agency said the directory provides contact details for state coordinators to facilitate reporting, referrals and access to appropriate services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
According to a statement yesterday by the Head of the DSVA Public Affairs Unit, Onadipe Opebere, the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen national coordination among stakeholders involved in preventing and responding to GBV.
The directory follows a two-day national convening of GBV state coordinators hosted by the Lagos State Government, with support from the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC II) Programme.
The programme is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA).
The agency said the directory was designed to strengthen coordination and referral pathways among stakeholders while making it easier for individuals and organisations to identify and contact the appropriate state-level officials.
It, therefore, urged individuals, government institutions, civil society organisations, community groups and other stakeholders to use the directory and share it widely within their networks.
The DSVA, however, reaffirmed its commitment to improving coordination among GBV response stakeholders and expanding access to timely and appropriate support services for survivors across Nigeria.
