Men’s fashion has taken a tremendous evolution from the regulars to staple statement making intricate apparels. And in Nigeria, David Wej is one of the many designers who have driven this evolution through creativity at its best.
For men of statement making styles, especially Nigerian men, fashion is either luxury or nothing. And for designers like David Wej who know their craft, refined luxury fashion comes with certain factors which include topnotch fabrics, accessories and the craftsmanship behind it.
This is the basis for the unveiling of David Wej Signature, a luxury arm of David Wej brand in collaboration with world-class fabric mills and artisans, starting with Loro Piana, Drago, Carino, Vitale Barneris Canonico (VBC), Thomas Mason and Brown Aaron.
At the unveiling of David Wej Signature in Lagos, the founder, Adedayo David Eweje revealed the logic behind partnering with famous world-class textile brands for the David Wej Signature. For him, it is easier to collaborate with the leading international fabric mills to create world-class collections because of course Nigerians are already familiar with them. So they get the chance to feel the fabrics, choose what they want, and it is customised for them.
For over 18 years and counting, David Wej has grown into a global household name where everything concerning men is being designed and manufactured with topnotch craftsmanship and tailoring.
Looking back based on his journey and experience in the Nigeria fashion industry, David says Nigeria fashion is the biggest in Africa as the creativity of the designers stands tall globally. “The only thing we’ve not been able to do is to put together that supply chain and commercialise it the way it should be.”
