The Makinde Daura Resetter Movement (MAD RESETTER) is set to launch its Lagos State chapter on Saturday as it begins mobilisation for Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The movement, which is positioning Makinde as its preferred candidate for the presidency, said the Lagos launch would bring together youths, women, professionals, artisans and other supporters to advance its campaign for a change in national leadership.
The event is scheduled to hold at Diocesan Field, formerly Skypower, beside Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, GRA, Ikeja, at 11:00 a.m.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the South-West Directorate of the movement said Nigeria needed a change in leadership direction to address economic hardship, insecurity and other governance challenges.
The statement, signed by Prince Dr. Christopher Odianarewo, said the movement was seeking to build a grassroots coalition around Makinde’s record as governor of Oyo State.
It cited infrastructure development, resource management and industrial harmony as areas in which Makinde had demonstrated leadership, arguing that his experience in Oyo State could provide a basis for addressing challenges at the national level.
The movement also pledged to mobilise support across ethnic, regional and religious lines, saying inclusive governance and the welfare of citizens would be central to its campaign.
It described the Lagos launch as part of a broader effort to rally Nigerians behind Makinde’s proposed presidential ambition in 2027.
The statement called on residents, political supporters and other interested Nigerians to attend the event, which it said would advance the movement’s campaign for a national reset.
However, the statement did not indicate whether Makinde had formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.
