As political activities gather momentum in Kaduna ahead of the launch of the 2027 general elections campaign flag-off by the All Progressives Congress (APC), there appear to be growing concerns over the welfare and inclusion of its youths in the Northwest, with the party’s youth leaders holding a strategic meetings in the State.
The youths are said to be concerned that despite their contributions to the party’s electoral successes, they continue to struggle for recognition, adequate welfare and a meaningful voice in its affairs.
Their concerns came at a time when key political parties are expected to rely on young members to mobilise supporters, strengthen grassroots structures and drive campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting by the youth groups brought together APC youth leaders from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states under the leadership of the party’s Northwest Zonal Youth Leader, Abdulhamid Umar Mohammed.
When contacted by Journalists to discuss what transpired at the meeting, Mohammed declined to disclose the details but said the youth leaders were “moving with a single voice and working towards achieving a common goal.”
He did not elaborate on the issues discussed or whether the meeting produced any decisions concerning youth welfare and participation in the party, or support for those running for political offices.
The development comes ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s expected visit on 24th October to Kaduna for the launching of APC campaign, as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 elections.
