Fatai Okoya, who identifies himself as the first child of billionaire industrialist, Razaq Akanni Okoya, has appealed to his father for forgiveness and reconciliation after decades of estrangement.
In an open letter circulating on social media, Fatai expressed regret over their separation, urging the founder of Eleganza Group to give their relationship another chance.
“More than four decades have passed, and today, I write with a humble heart, putting aside all pride to say: Dad, I am truly sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me,” he wrote.
Fatai said the years spent apart had weighed heavily on him, adding that he did not want them to lose more opportunities to rebuild their relationship.
The appeal was followed by a TikTok Live session with popular blogger, Yeye Kudi Court Room, during which Fatai spoke about his relationship with his father and the events he believes contributed to their estrangement.
Appearing alongside his wife and a man he introduced as his maternal uncle, Fatai recalled he was once close to his father and travelled around the world with him.
He said their relationship deteriorated after disagreements over money and his decision to marry a woman his father had advised him against.
According to him, he may have mishandled some money while working with his father’s business but maintained that the amount was not substantial.
Fatai said he was young and in love when he decided to marry his first wife against his father’s wishes.
He suggested that these disagreements contributed to the prolonged breakdown of their relationship and said he had made several attempts to reconcile with his father.
He also recounted an incident at Chief Okoya’s 86th birthday celebration in January, alleging that he was prevented from approaching the industrialist.
Fatai said he attended the celebration hoping to see his father but was unable to speak with him despite being present at the event.
In the letter, Fatai acknowledged that the past could not be undone but urged his father to allow them to begin again.
“I am not asking for the past to be erased overnight. I am simply asking for a chance — for a chance to heal, to make peace, and to rebuild the bond between a father and his child,” he wrot
He also appealed to his father to forgive him while they still had time to reconnect.
As of the time of filing this report, Chief Okoya had not publicly responded to the appeal or the claims made during the TikTok Live session.
