…Recover gun, axe, cutlass

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three secondary schools students following a foiled suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa.

The students between the age 12 and 18 were arrested after a timely intelligence received about a planned cult-related activity tagged “Kito Day” involving students from different secondary schools in the area.

Spokesperson of the Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, yesterday.

Babaseyi said that upon receiving the information on 22nd October 2026, the Divisional Police Officer, Owode-Yewa, swiftly deployed a team of detectives in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria to the scene.

He said that the operation led to the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of one English axe, two knives, one short cutlass, one rubber toy gun and a school bag.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, today, 23rd October 2026, for further investigation and possible prosecution.” he added
