The Oyo State Government has said it is targeting wider African markets for local entrepreneurs through the 2026 edition of the Oyo State International Trade Fair, EXPOYO 2026.
The trade fair, scheduled to hold from October 26 to November 1, 2026, at the Permanent International Trade Fair Complex, opposite Ventura Mall, Sango–UI Road, Ibadan, is aimed at promoting trade, attracting investment and connecting local businesses with opportunities across Africa.
The Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry, Professor Salihu Adelabu, disclosed this while announcing preparations for the event.
He said the fair, organised in collaboration with the Oyo State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OYCCIMA), would provide a platform for entrepreneurs, manufacturers, investors and other business stakeholders to showcase their products, establish business relationships and explore new markets.
The theme of EXPOYO 2026 is “Trade Without Borders: Connecting Oyo Entrepreneurs to Africa’s Business Opportunities.”
According to the commissioner, the initiative is designed to strengthen the state’s business environment, stimulate economic activities and expand opportunities for local enterprises to participate in regional and international trade.
The formal opening ceremony is scheduled for October 27, while activities will begin on October 26 with sporting competitions.
The EXPOYO 2026 committee is chaired by Mr Salawu Wahab, with Chief Abiola Alli as vice-chairman.
The trade fair is expected to bring together businesses and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for partnerships, investment and commercial expansion.
A raffle draw is also among the activities planned for the event.
The government said the fair forms part of efforts to promote Oyo State as a destination for business and investment while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs to reach markets beyond the state.
