The Federal Government has confirmed that the 42-year-old Ugandan-born national who tested positive for Ebola on October 20 is set for medical evacuation from Abuja.
A recent video circulating on X shows a medical evacuation aircraft on the tarmac, with ground crew members preparing for the patient’s transfer.
The patient, who lives in Abuja, became Nigeria’s first confirmed Ebola case in more than a decade.
The patient’s husband, who also travelled to Uganda earlier this month, is currently in isolation but has not developed any symptoms, according to the Swiss Foreign Ministry.
The ministry said all 25 staff members at its embassy in Nigeria were in good health and did not need to isolate.
It also disclosed that the woman had spent about a week receiving treatment at a private clinic in Abuja while experiencing symptoms before her Ebola diagnosis.
