The Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 has dismissed the campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s removal from office, insisting that economic hardship and insecurity in Northern Nigeria have not eroded support for his administration.
The group described the ‘Tinubu Must Go‘ campaign as exaggerated, arguing that its promoters were attempting to portray isolated expressions of dissatisfaction as evidence of widespread opposition to the President across the North.
In a statement signed by its representative, Hon. Ali Oriri, the network said Tinubu continued to enjoy support among northern political stakeholders and grassroots groups because of what it described as ongoing investments in infrastructure, security and economic reforms.
Oriri acknowledged the challenges of rising living costs and insecurity but maintained that the administration’s policies and development initiatives deserved consideration in assessing its performance and political standing.
“We are not blind to the challenges of cost of living and insecurity. No serious person is,” he said.
“But we also see the deliberate investments in roads that link our markets, the push to improve electricity transmission, and the operational successes being recorded by our security agencies. These are not imaginary.”
He argued that the administration inherited deep-rooted economic and structural problems, adding that the reforms introduced since 2023, although difficult, were intended to establish a stronger economic foundation.
“President Tinubu inherited deep structural problems. The reforms he embarked upon were tough, but they are laying the foundation for a stronger economy.
“Our network is on the ground educating our people on these realities and organising them for 2027,” he said.
The group also faulted attempts by opposition figures to present the ‘Tinubu Must Go’ campaign as a reflection of the general mood in Northern Nigeria, insisting that such assessments should take into account the views of traditional institutions, youth organisations, women’s groups and grassroots political actors.
Oriri cited ongoing highway construction, rail developments, investments in electricity transmission and efforts to strengthen the country’s security architecture as evidence of the administration’s commitment to addressing some of the region’s longstanding challenges.
He said the network was working with like-minded political stakeholders to counter what it described as misinformation and communicate the administration’s policies and achievements to communities across the North.
“The so-called Tinubu Must Go movement is making noise, but noise is not the same as organised political strength,” Oriri stated.
He added that the network’s mobilisation efforts were aimed at consolidating grassroots support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the group would intensify town hall meetings, community engagements and consultations with stakeholders across northern states in the coming months to promote the administration’s policies and strengthen its political structures.
Oriri further accused promoters of the anti-Tinubu campaign of exploiting economic difficulties without presenting a convincing alternative to the policies being pursued by the Federal Government.
He maintained that continuity in government was necessary to allow the ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects to deliver their expected benefits.
“The people of the North understand that sustainable progress requires continuity of purposeful leadership.
“That is why the Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network is mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” he said.
The group reiterated its commitment to Tinubu’s second-term ambition, arguing that the administration’s investments in infrastructure and security should be allowed to mature.
“We will not allow a campaign built on frustration alone to define the political conversation in the North.
“President Tinubu has shown the courage to take hard decisions. The Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 stands firmly with him because we believe continuity is essential for the gains already recorded in infrastructure and security to be fully realised,” Oriri said.
