…Plans two million-man march, 10 luxury buses for mobilisation
Alhaji Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and presidential candidate of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC),Atiku Abubakar, has declared support for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing his conviction in the administration’s reform agenda and policies.
Abba, who unveiled the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), a political mobilisation platform on friday in Abuja explained that his decision was based on his assessment of the government’s policies and their potential benefits to Nigerians.
Explaining his political choice, Abba said his support for the President was informed by his conviction that the administration had taken steps capable of addressing some of the country’s longstanding challenges.
He maintained that his political decision should not be interpreted as an attempt to antagonise his father, insisting that he was guided by his assessment of government policies.
“Any government that comes up with policies, and if those policies, to me, are going to help the people, I’ll join them. And I don’t think antagonising my brother is the issue. I believe in the current regime and the current government’s policies and reforms that are taking place,” he added.
He also expressed appreciation to the APC leadership, members and supporters for their acceptance and support.
Abba said the Haske Political Organisation was established to bring together Nigerians who share his conviction in Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda, with a mandate to build an inclusive, nationally coordinated grassroots mobilisation network.
He acknowledged that the administration’s reforms had come with difficult adjustments for Nigerians but argued that their potential long-term benefits should also be recognised.
He identified the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), investments in road infrastructure, increased allocations to state governments through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), and interventions to cushion economic difficulties as some of the initiatives informing his support for the administration.
As part of its activities, HBTO announced plans to introduce a transportation support initiative involving the initial deployment of 10 luxury buses to ease commuting challenges in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, before expanding to other parts of the country.
On its political mobilisation strategy, he disclosed plans to organise a two million-man mobilisation march across the six geopolitical zones, beginning in Abuja.
He said the organisation would also work with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, whom he described as a key political leader in its mobilisation structure, to secure victory for Tinubu in the FCT in 2027.
He further disclosed plans for a major mobilisation exercise in Rivers State, adding that the organisation was activating its structures and supporters ahead of the exercise.
Abba said HBTO would establish structures across the six geopolitical zones, engage community leaders, youth and women organisations, and collaborate with other political groups to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 poll.
