Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has described President Bola Tinubu as a detribalised and inclusive leader whose administration is strengthening national unity through policies anchored on fairness, merit and equal opportunities for all Nigerians.

Akume said the Tinubu administration remains committed to building a nation where competence, character and patriotism take precedence over ethnic and religious considerations.

The SGF spoke on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Fulani Community Support Group (NFCSG).

He said President Tinubu’s style of governance reflects his long-standing belief in inclusiveness, recalling that as Governor of Lagos State, the President appointed qualified Nigerians from diverse ethnic backgrounds and ensured that candidates who emerged through democratic party processes were given equal opportunities to contest elections.

“President Tinubu carries everyone along in his government. He does not discriminate. During his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, he appointed competent Nigerians from different ethnic backgrounds into his cabinet and ensured that those who won party primaries, irrespective of tribe, were allowed to contest elections,” Akume said.

The SGF stressed that the Federal Government would continue to partner with individuals, organisations and communities committed to promoting peace, national cohesion and sustainable development, describing Nigeria’s diversity as one of its greatest strengths.

“This government will work with anyone who supports peace and the development of our country. We must continue to live together in harmony and reject every form of division capable of undermining our collective progress,” he said.

Akume noted that the President’s commitment to equity and inclusion is evident both in the composition of his administration and in policies designed to foster national integration and balanced development across the country.

Responding to requests presented by the delegation, the SGF assured the group that the Federal Government would give due consideration to their submissions in line with its commitment to responsive and people-centred governance.

“We will study your requests and see what can be done. Continue the good work you are doing in promoting peace, and let us all work together to ensure a peaceful, free and credible electoral process in 2027,” he added.

He urged Nigerians to reject divisive narratives, embrace peaceful coexistence and support the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that lasting national development can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace, stability and collective responsibility.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of the Nigerian Fulani Community Support Group, Dr Aliyu Iliyasu Ardido, commended President Tinubu for establishing the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, describing the initiative as a major step towards modernising Nigeria’s livestock industry.

He said the ministry has the potential to boost productivity, create employment opportunities for pastoral youths and increase the sector’s contribution to national economic growth.

Ardido also expressed optimism that sustained government investment in education, vocational training, modern ranching systems, sustainable grazing practices and veterinary services would improve the livelihoods of pastoral communities nationwide.

Reaffirming the group’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, he pledged continued sensitisation of Fulani communities on peaceful coexistence, lawful conduct and constructive participation in nation-building.

He also appealed for government support, including operational vehicles, motorcycles, logistics, renovation of zonal offices and campaign materials, to strengthen the group’s grassroots mobilisation and community engagement efforts.

Ardido assured the SGF of the group’s commitment to promoting peace, national unity and democratic participation, expressing confidence that stronger collaboration between government and community-based organisations would further enhance national stability, security and socio-economic development.
