The Deputy Director General, Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that opposition parties have nothing to offer Cross River State and Nigeria compared to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s transformative agenda.
Speaking at the presidential rally in Calabar on Monday, Oshiomhole said Tinubu has already structurally changed Cross River’s fortunes while opposition candidates are only making empty promises.
“What is the opposition offering you?” he queried the crowd at U.J Esuene Stadium.
He listed Tinubu’s concrete deliverables for the state, including restoring Cross River as oil-producing state to permanently increase revenue, granting NELFUND student loans to 24,503 Cross River students, building the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, locating the Gulf of Guinea Secretariat in Calabar, and abolishing multiple exchange rates to ensure fairness.
“Once upon a time, Cross River became out of littoral states. Today, under Tinubu, Cross River is considered an oil-producing state. This structural change will forever increase revenue accruing to this great state,” he said.
“President Tinubu recognized that your father doesn’t have to be a billionaire for you to be educated. That is why he introduced student loan scheme. Tinubu has become father of the fatherless for purpose of paying school fees. What is more coastal than Cross River when we talk of coastal road?”
Contrasting Tinubu’s record with opposition, Oshiomhole dismissed Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi as lacking credibility and stake.
“Atiku lives in Dubai, only comes home on eve of every election. He will lose in January and by February be back in Dubai. Is it Peter Obi? If he could not fix Anambra in 8 years, how can he look you koro-koro to the eye and say he will fix Nigeria in 4 years? We want leaders who can speak truth.”
He accused opposition of disrespecting President Tinubu without offering alternative vision.
“We must have courage to mention their name if they have no respect to mention our leader’s name.”
Oshiomhole insisted that only APC has come to stay in Cross River with a clear programme of sustainable growth, declaring: “It can only be better, Cross River. Today, tomorrow and forever, together we will advance the growth.”
