The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dropped the word ‘Presidential’ from the name of its campaign committee, revising the controversial structure amid disagreements over the party’s campaign leadership.
The committee, initially announced as the Presidential and Parliamentary Campaign Committee, has now been renamed the Parliamentary Campaign Committee.
The development follows opposition from some members of the party’s State Executive Committee, who had challenged the composition of the earlier committee and questioned the procedure behind its formation.
The earlier arrangement was announced by the Osun APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, with the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, named as its Director-General.
However, the announcement reportedly triggered disagreements within the party, particularly after another presidential campaign structure emerged under the coordination of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Four members of the state executive committee, including the Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola, Welfare Officer, Adesola Ayangbile, Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji, and Ex-Officio member, Abiola Ololade, had rejected the earlier list.
The disagreement reportedly attracted the attention of the APC national leadership, which opposed the parallel presidential campaign arrangement.
In the revised structure announced on Tuesday, Lawal retained Oyebamiji as Director-General of the Parliamentary Campaign Committee.
The party explained that the committee would focus on mobilising support for APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats in the 2027 general elections.
It also pledged to work with members of the existing Presidential Campaign Council to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates.
The renaming marks a fresh adjustment to the Osun APC’s campaign structure as the party works to resolve internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 elections.
