KOVI 2027 to deepen public engagement, dissect Lagos’ promise

KOVI 2027. Dapo Saheed

An independent support and public enlightenment movement aimed at bringing Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s vision for Lagos has been launched. It is also to promote awareness and understanding of Ìlérí Èkó – (The Lagos Promise).

Built on four defining pillars: Knowledge, Opportunity, Vision and Inclusion — KOVI 2027, it seeks to bring the manifesto closer to Lagosians by translating its proposals into clear, accessible information and encouraging meaningful conversations.

The Coordinator, KOVI 2027, Dapo Saheed, disclosed that “the movement believes political participation should go beyond campaign slogans.”

Saheed said residents deserve opportunities to understand the policies, priorities and commitments of those seeking to lead them, particularly on issues affecting their daily lives. “Through community engagement, media programmes and digital communication, the movement would promote public understanding of the manifesto’s proposals on education, healthcare, infrastructure, transportation, employment, security and economic opportunities.”

KOVI 2027 will also highlight the leadership experience of Hamzat through its central narrative, “MPC – The Most Prepared Candidate.”

With over two decades of public service and leadership experience, Hamzat has served Lagos in several strategic capacities, including Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, and Deputy Governor since 2019. His professional background and academic qualifications, including a doctorate from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, form part of the experience the movement intends to present for public consideration.

With the theme, “He Aspired. He Served. He Learned. He Seeks to Lead,” KOVI 2027 will examine his leadership journey, policy experience and proposals for the state’s future.

To achieve its objectives, KOVI 2027 will deploy a grassroots and multimedia engagement strategy, including social media explainers, radio and television discussions, community conversations, youth engagements and accessible printed materials. Communication will be delivered in English, Yoruba and Pidgin to reach diverse communities across Lagos State’s 20 local councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

The movement will further emphasise factual communication, constructive dialogue and transparency, distinguishing future policy commitments from existing achievements while encouraging residents to ask questions and participate in discussions.

In conclusion, Saheed noted KOVI 2027 welcomes engagement from residents, community organisations, youth groups, market associations, professionals and other stakeholders interested in understanding the ideas and proposals shaping Lagos State’s future.
