Ugwuanyi to create more urban areas in Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has reiterated the resolve of his administration to create more urban areas in Enugu State with a view to boosting economic growth.

Ugwuanyi made this known at the commencement of a three-day induction workshop for members of the  sixth House of Assembly organized by State Accountability and Voice Initiative (SAVI) in Enugu. He urged the legislators to “join the executive arm in the arduous task of taking succour to our people in the rural areas.”

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezilo, harped on the need to develop the rural areas, stressing that achieving the target requires sacrifices on the part of the people.

He urged the House of Assembly members to develop workable strategies for prosecution of the agenda of the government through promotion of effective synergies between the executive and legislative arms of government. In an address at the occasion, Speaker of the House, Edward Ubosi  (Enugu East, PDP) said the workshop would equip members with the legislative skills that would increase their proficiency and productivity.

The Clerk of the House, Christopher Chukwura, said the induction workshop was a follow up to a recent legislative studies organised in Abuja by the National Assembly and the National Institute for Legislative Studies for all state legislators in the country. He urged the legislators to pay adequate attention to the lectures, stating they would help them imbibe thenecessary democratic tenets.
