Former senator challenges leaders on plight of Nigerians

Senator Gbenga Obadara

Sen.-Gbenga-ObadaraA former member of the Senate, Senator Gbenga Obadara yesterday urged leaders at all levels to put into consideration, the plight of the masses, many of whom he said are struggling to live above poverty level.

He insisted that if all political leaders would put into consideration the welfare of the ordinary citizens in formulating their policies, the poverty level in the country would not be as it is today.

Obadara suggested that to reduce the insecurity level in the country, the country’s leaders must use the abundant resources available to better the lives of the people.

The former lawmaker who represented Ogun Central Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015 spoke during the inauguration of his private radio station, Sweet 107.1 FM in Abeokuta, the State capital.

The Senator explained that, as a leader who cares so much about his people, the establishment of the radio station was his way of giving back to the society.

His words, “I took the initiative to situate Sweet 107.1FM in the District as a way of giving back to the people who believe so much in me and have stayed by me over the years”.

He added, “When the station commences full programming by the middle of this month, you will appreciate the number of our citizens whom we have economically empowered, directly and indirectly through that station”.

“Beyond that, I believe that with a very rich content that will cut across all walks of life, they will be armed with first hand information that will further liberate them and educate them on happenings around them”.

The station, the former lawmaker maintained, was one of the promises he made to the people of the District during the 2015 elections’ campaign.

“As I congratulate the citizens and residents of Ogun State ahead of the fortieth celebration of the creation of our dear State which will hold later this year, I urge them to remain resilient, patriotic and steadfast because tough moments don’t last.”

“Their days of laughter is near even as I pledge once again, to place their interest above all others”, the former lawmaker affirmed.
