EDO State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Anselm Ojezua, yesterday, in Benin City, the Edo State capital said the party was committed to ensuring a free and fair gubernatorial primaries. As a party promoting change in all ramifications, it cannot afford to compromise due process.
Ojezua, who disclosed that the party was working round the clock to produce a credible candidate that will succeed Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, noted that the APC was awaiting the national secretariat to issue guidelines that will help it conduct a free, fair and credible primary election in the state.
Ojezua gave the assurance while playing host to a gubernatorial aspirant, General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd.).
He said: “I believe it is after the National Working Committee fashions out the guidelines that we will be able to pick the party’s candidate to take over from Governor Oshiomhole in November.”
On his part, Airhiavbere said he was at the state secretariat of the party to present himself as a credible successor to the
Comrade Governor whose track record of success in the last seven years speaks volume.
Airhiavbere, added that Edo as a state should be happy that it is an APC state and the APC government is at the centre. He believes governor Oshiomhole has done well and put up solid structures for the APC to win elections in the state.
