Kaduna State Governor, Malam el-Rufai arrived Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House on Friday evening, and was received by cabinet members, party members, supporters and friends after it was widely rumoured that he was involved in a ghastly motor accident that claimed his driver’s life.

When he arrived Government House, there was chanting of “Sai Malam, Sai Mai Rusau and Murus.” Some women started singing, as they besieged the gate to have a glimpse of the Governor.

An eyewitness said: “A mammoth crowd was at Government House to have a glimpse of the Governor, who was said to have been involved in a ghastly motor accident and flown overseas for medical treatment.”

Addressing guests at a welcome reception hosted by his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Isma el-Rufai, the Governor said briefly: “The rumours are unfounded and handiwork of enemies of progress.”

El-Rufai’s physical and public appearance will certainly put an end to the rumours that has been spreading like wild fire.

He canvassed support from all quarters, while stretching an olive branch to oppositions in order to move the state forward.
