
The peace parley, at the instance of TYO, deliberated on possible measures that would help restore peace in the troubled border areas of Benue and Taraba States.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, President General, TYO, Comrade Timothy Hembaor, said it was imperative for youth leaders on both divide to find a lasting solution to the crises, as agents being used to perpetrate the heinous acts.
Disappointed that the Tiv and Jukun, who shared a common heritage and had lived together for ages, could result to taking arms against themselves, he said enemies of the two warring tribes were cashing on the sad development to fan embers of discord.
He declared such elements were on the verge of being put to shame, given the commitment shown by Tiv and Jukun youth leaders at the meeting.
Leader of the Jukun delegation, Nuhu Marvelous Adagba, represented the National President, JYC, Mr. Moses Amankye. He wondered how the two tribes could be fighting, having lived peacefully over the years.
