Diocese of Isiala Ngwa South ends synod, wants FG to tackle insecurity

The Bishop of Diocese of Isiala Ngwa South, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Isaac C. Nwaobia has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election and urged him keep to his promise of inclusive government.

The Bishop said this during the First Session of the Fourth Synod of the church, held last week at St. Paul’s Church Ngwaobi I1, Ngwaobi/Amaise Archdeaconry, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its Synod deliberations, the Diocesan Bishop also congratulated the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on his re-election and charged him to ensure that all Abians enjoy dividends of democracy.

The Synod observed with utmost concern the persistent state of insecurity in the country, unprovoked attacks, kidnapping, killings by armed bandits and urged the Federal Government to tackle insecurity, as well as address the prevailing inflation in the country.

It also decried the huge wastages in running elections in the country and advised the Federal Government to adopt e-voting to reduce high cost, high incidence of electoral malpractices and violence.

The synod also called on political officeholders to maintain a life of accountability in order to enhance quality of their relationship with God and humanity.

While commending Ministers, Local Organising Committee and people of Ngwaobi II and Ngwaobi/Amaise Archdeaconry for hosting this year’s event, the synod praised the Lord Bishop of Isiala Ngwa South Diocese, Rt. Rev. Isaac C. Nwaobia and his wife, Mrs. Hope Nnechinyere Nwaobia on the giant stride of achievement recorded in the Diocese so far, especially the new Cathedral building project.

The Synod also commended the exemplary leadership of the Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh and applauded his efforts at securing a National Secretariat for the Church.
