To every generation, there is a messiah, to every school, there is a mentor, and to every industry, there is a captain. Inadvertently, that is the position Prince Amechi Michael, CEO of Prince Amechi Michael Propertities, has assumed in Nigeria’s booming real estate industry.

The huge gap in housing deficit in Nigeria has drastically reduced in the last few years, when measured by what the scenario was over a decade ago. However, the paradigm shift did not appear from nowhere, it is on the premise of decades of grand foundation-laying by the likes of Prince Amechi Michael Propertities visioner, who has been a realtor since 1999.

The background of Prince Amechi Michael is a reflection of his perseverance, tenacity and determination to, alongside other industry pioneers, carry the burden to build a formidable sector now worth hundreds of billions of naira and ultimately bridge the accommodation deficit for Nigerians.

The Prince Amechi Michael Propertities owner, who hails from Otuocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, is the fourth child of seven siblings. His father, who was an engineer, could not cater to all the needs of the household and consequently, he came to Lagos with his older brother in the 1990s. The entrepreneur worked briefly in a supermarket before making an adventure into the property business in 1998.

Prince Amechi Michael attended Usi Primary School in Benin City, where he was born and raised. He attended Okota Secondary School in Lagos, and later went to febilac to continue his education. He could not further his studies immediately after his secondary education, due to lack of funds or sponsorship. However, the businessman later bagged a degree in Business Administration from the Lagos State University (LASU).

“My brother and my brother started the business far back as 1998 – 2000, but there wasn’t any money so we started from retail rentals and stone coat roofing and also installation of water connectors. My father was a civil engineer and I think that was where I got my knowledge from, my brothers are all into real estate and we’re as well developers”, Amechi Michael disclosed in a question and answer session.

The veteran realtor has come a long way in the industry, in which he is renowned and respected. On his experience as a property investor, he revealed valuable lessons that have contributed to his success.

“I have learnt a lot, especially building houses that are not affordable, properties like that are always very difficult to to sell and also mistakenly buying lands with issues, or getting land that doesn’t have good title. So things like this are what I have learnt not to get myself attached with.

“Every business have profit but it’s dependent on the strategy you use, that’s what will determine your profit, if you spend your time building luxurious houses it will be very difficult to sell compare to building a normal affordable house”, said Prince Amechi Michael

The Prince Amechi Michael Propertities CEO has many feathers to his cap; all of which have come as mark of recognising his impact and contribution to the development and growth of the industry in Nigeria. To crown a massively profitable year for him in 2022, he won the Real Estate Outstanding Performance Award. Also last year, he was named a West African Youth Ambassador.

“I have been giving a lot of awards. I have an ‘Honorary Doctorate in Real Estate Management & Outstanding Excellence Award & Inspirational Leadership Honors in West Africa’,

‘Yoruba Youth Humanitarian Icon Of The Year’, ‘Umuada Aguleri Mba Worldwide Patron Award’, EECOWAS Youth Personality Of The Year, and many others I cannot remember,” disclosed Prince Amechi Michael.
