165 graduate from Senator Orji training initiatives await empowerment



165 youths selected from the six LGAs of Abia Central senatorial district that benefited from senator Theodore Orji’s sponsored various training programmes at various institutions within and outside the state now await physical empowerment to enable them practice their acquired skills.

Already, the Senator had issued 180 undergraduate beneficiaries of his annual competitive scholarship awards with their cheques.

Giving the update on the programme, the Senator’s former Senior Legislative Assistant, Hon Chidiere Nwoke told The Guardian in Umuahia that 65 of the 165 youths
underwent trainings in fisheries, poultry farming, piggery etc. at Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu Ebonyi state while others had vocational trainings in fashion design, hair dressing, barbing, cosmetology. 

While another 80 were trained at the National Root Crops Research Institute Umudike on preparation of odourless ‘fufu’ and allied products, he said that 20 others were sent for training in mechanized farming at the National Center for Agriculture Mechanization in Ilorin Kwara state.
