The accounting profession has called for sustained commitment to professional standards and talent development to strengthen its contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth and business development.

The call formed part of reflections by HLB Z. O. Ososanya & Co. as the firm prepares to mark its 70th anniversary.

Established in 1956, the firm said its seven decades of practice had reinforced the importance of maintaining high professional standards while developing skilled professionals capable of contributing to different sectors of the economy.

In a statement signed by its Managing Partner, J. B. Kolawole, the firm said its anniversary would bring together professional colleagues, clients, friends and other stakeholders to reflect on its contribution to the accounting profession and the Nigerian economy.

The firm said it had remained committed to providing accountancy, taxation, advisory and management consultancy services while maintaining high professional standards.

It noted that its membership of HLB International, a global network of independent accounting firms and business advisers operating in more than 150 countries, had enabled it to combine local expertise with international professional standards.

The firm also said it had nurtured professionals who went on to contribute across various sectors of the Nigerian economy and beyond, underscoring the importance of sustained investment in professional development.

Slated for September 17, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, the firm said it will also recognise clients, professional partners, and other stakeholders who have supported it over the years.

Kolawole said the 70th anniversary offered an opportunity to reflect on the firm’s legacy while looking ahead to the profession’s future.
