Plans are underway by the Lagos Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) to equip police officers in handling cases on fraud and forensic investigations professionally.

The President of ACFE, Dr. Godwin Oyedokun, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the association’s board members to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Lagos State, Muazu Zubairu, recently.

The training, Oyedokun said, was to rejuvenate their efforts in order to strike a balance.

Oyedokun, who pledged the association’s support for the new CP, urged the officers to join the body to keep abreast in handling on issues relating on fraud and other critical matters relating to the job.

They donated books on fundamentals of forensic accounting, ethical justification on accounting and others to the CP and for zonal heads in the state.

“We believe the gesture of donating the books that as police officers, they need to know much about taxation so that when they have cases of tax fraud they will be able to handle them professionally,” Oyedokun said.

In his response, Zubairu, who is also a member of the ACFE commended them on their gesture, and promised to extend the partnership to the Inspector General of Police.
