Ann Obaseki has been appointed as the new General Manager of Lounge FM Lagos, a leading radio station focused on promoting Afrobeats music and culture. With over 20 years of experience in the Nigerian entertainment industry, Ann Obaseki brings a wealth of expertise to the role.
She is determined to leverage cutting-edge analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to create innovative radio and TV programs. These initiatives will help expand Afrobeats’ global reach and enable brands to use music as a tool for engaging with their target audiences.
Lounge FM is on an upward trajectory with strengthened strategic partnerships; the station is expanding its streaming capabilities to connect with African communities in the diaspora, enhancing its global presence and influence.
In her new role, Ann Obaseki expressed her excitement about leading the station, saying, “It is a big honour to be part of a radio station that is connecting brands to a dynamic, youth-centric population.
“We have a 15 percent market audience share, with 1.5 million listeners, 57 percent of whom are women — key decision-makers in household buying. This provides a unique opportunity for brands to reach a powerful demographic.”
Ann Obaseki also emphasised Lounge FM’s commitment to driving technological innovation, noting the station’s alignment with its video-on-demand TV platform.
“By using digital tools and AI, we can offer enhanced visual radio experiences. We’re focused on helping brands meet their marketing objectives while continuing to entertain and inform our listeners,” she added.
Ms Obaseki’s appointment marks a new chapter for Lounge FM as it continues to shape the future of radio in Nigeria.
