Gobir

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has marked a new chapter of global impact, collaboration, and excellence through the inauguration of a new branch in the United States of America (USA).

The President and Chairman of the Governing Council, CIPM, Ahmed Gobir, said the unveiling has propelled the institute onto the global stage, connecting continents and redefining human resource (HR) practices for a better future.

Speaking on the theme ‘Networking and Collaboration: Key to Professional Development’, Gobir highlighted the importance of collaboration in the HR profession, stating that the future of HR lies in partnerships, not just policies.

According to him, the CIPM USA branch is poised to be a beacon of excellence, fostering connections that will elevate the HR profession globally.

He stressed that the inauguration was a testament to the institute’s commitment to breaking barriers and expanding its influence across the globe.

He said the milestone follows several groundbreaking achievements, including mutual recognition of membership with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in the United Kingdom (UK) and CIPM’s representation on the board of the African Human Resources Confederation (AHRC).

Presenting a keynote address, a renowned HR professional, Dr Steve Ojeh, emphasised the transformative power of connections.

Stating that collaboration was the lifeblood of innovation, he said by working together, “we unlock opportunities and achieve growth far beyond individual efforts.”
The event also witnessed the selection of a dynamic team of executives to lead the branch as it embarked on its mission to set the standard for HR management excellence in the US.

The new branch executives were lauded for their dedication and vision, even as they are expected to drive the institute’s mission of promoting excellence in people management through value creation and the standardisation of HR practices.

Also, represented in major regions across the globe, with active branches in Canada, the United Kingdom, and now, the United States, the CIPM added that its expansion solidifies its position as a global leader in the HR profession.
