Two dons, Abimbola Oluwatosin, of the Department of Nursing, University of Ibadan, and Vice Chancellor, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Joshua Ogunwole, have tasked Federal Government and other stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the lingering crises confronting the health sector.

The duo frowned on how government pays much attention to security issues, neglecting the priority, which should be given to human health.

The dons spoke at the third induction ceremony of the nursing graduating students of Bowen University, charging Federal Government to rise to demands of the health profession at all times.

They also harped on the need for the country to focus on expanding capacity of the health sector to enable it serve others, and find ways to contribute to advancement of the society.

Oluwatosin, in her lecture, entitled: ‘Excelling As Nursing Professionals In The Midst of Dynamic Global Health Issues,’ said health security should not be left for ministries of health alone.

She said: “Government should pay attention to insecurity issues, and should also take health issues as priority. Global pandemic showed us where global health stands; global health crises affected every area.”

She stressed that investment in health sector would yield greater dividends, in terms of security, economy and development, if properly harnessed.
