FUOYE appoints Ogunwole as deputy VC
The Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) has appointed Prof. Joshua Ogunwole as the pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC), Strategic Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Linkages.
Ogunwole’s appointment was announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina.
He said the university needed the vast and rich experience Ogunwole had acquired and deployed in his previous workplace, Bowen University, to international heights, where he was the Vice Chancellor before returning to FUOYE, his primary constituency in 2023.
“This is just one out of the too numerous firsts and feats of Ogunwole that we at FUOYE and no leader in the world can ignore, hence we are bringing him to Macedonia.”
Ogunwole is a distinguished Soil Scientist with about 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and community service, having served across institutions, including Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU), Adamawa State University, Mubi (ADSU), Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) and FUOYE.
Throughout his career, Ogunwole has received numerous prestigious fellowships. Most notably, he was awarded the J. William Fulbright Scholarship, completing his fellowship at the Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pennsylvania in 2009–2010.
Before this, he was a TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences) postdoctoral fellow at the Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute in Bhavnagar, India (2006–2007).
His international expertise expanded further through the TWAS Associateship Programme at the International Water Management Institute in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he was posted to their East African Regional office at Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, to serve as a soil scientist under the CGIAR-Nile Challenge Programme in 2010.
