Institute of Directors
The Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria has urged newly inducted members to continue upholding corporate governance principles and be guided by the code of ethics of the institute at all levels.

President and Chairman of Council, IoD Nigeria, Dr. Ije Jidenma, who gave the charge at the July 2022 induction ceremony, urged them to appreciate the privileged status provided by the institute and remain steadfast and focused in their support for its growth and development.

She pledged that the institute would continue to demonstrate greater concern and commitment to the governance of all private and public sector organisations in Nigeria.

She promised that the institute’s leadership would continue to appreciate ideas and input by existing and new members towards the achievement of the institute’s vision.

Noting that IoD Nigeria had over the years made tremendous impact in both the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy, she said it has groomed directors into becoming highly responsible ambassadors of corporate governance and sound ethical practices, as it’s obtainable, globally.

While congratulating the new members, she said: “Let me, however, point out to you that your admission into the institute, today, is both a call and admission into the global network of a responsible group of leaders that have committed themselves to be change agents in their business and private lives and have pledged to champion positive changes in their organisations and the Nigerian economy at large.”

The guest speaker and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc., Tinuade Sanda, who spoke on ‘A Critical Assessment of Corporate Governance and Industry Standards in the Power Sector’, listed some means of ensuring the implementation of corporate governance in organisations.

While listing the benefits of corporate governance, she said for there to be effective corporate governance in organisations, the items must be put in place.
