‘JOOPSA established to improve professionalism in public service’

Ajoonu

Director General of the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), Precious Ajoonu has said the academy was established to empower civil servants with critical skills for today’s complex governance challenges in Edo State.

Ajoonu said this when the academy honoured staff and public servants who distinguished themselves for professionalism and excellence in the service. At the award night with the theme ‘Establishing a Legacy, Celebrating Our Journey Together’, Ajoonu said the academy, established by Governor Godwin Obaseki, was to foster professionalism and excellence in public service.

According to her, JOOPSA has speedily become a rallying point for those seeking to make a difference in governance and administration across Nigeria. Maintaining that the academy boasts modern classrooms equipped with smart technology, a resource-rich library dedicated to policy and governance studies, and a state-of-the-art government innovation lab where trainees can learn how to use computers, code and
innovate, Ajoonu used the event to reiterate JOOPSA’s mission and announced upcoming opportunities and training programmes aimed at strengthening public administration across the country.

A staff member who expressed gratitude to the leadership of JOOPSA for the honour said, “Civil servants who were present at the event were inspired by the academy’s vision of a transformative, service-oriented governance model.”

The event climaxed with an award ceremony where members of staff, civil and public servants, faculty, volunteers, and partners were recognized for their commitment to work.
