Lagos State Assembly confirms four commissioners, SA, board member

The Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the six commissioners nominated by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for cabinet positions in the state government.

The Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the six commissioners nominated by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for cabinet positions in the state government.

Four of the nominees are commissioners, one is a Special Adviser while the sixth was nominated for the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) governing board.

The commissioners are: Hakeem Popoola Fahm (Science and Technology); Oladipupo Lawanson (Transportation); Segun Banjo (Economic Planning and Budget) and Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, (Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives).

Suleiman Hakeem is Special Adviser on Communities and Communications, while Mrs. Toyin Okenla Ojeaga was confirmed board member of the LSSC.

Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, said during the screening that the nominees should just show their faces and introduce themselves.

Consequently, apart from Okenla-Ojeaga, who was asked a few questions, the others bowed and left after introducing themselves.

Meanwhile, the house also took the third reading of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, Lagos State Teaching Service Commission Law and Lagos State House of Assembly Commission Law (LAHASCOM).

The amended LAHASCOM law is seeking to increase the number of deputy clerks to four.

They are: Deputy Clerk, Legislative, Deputy Clerk, Legislative Drafting, Deputy Clerk Publication and Public Affairs, Deputy Clerk Human Resources and Accounts.

The House, thereafter, adjourned sitting till March 19, 2018.
