LASG trains workforce on forensic accounting
As part of efforts aimed at fighting corruption and ensure zero tolerance for corruption, Lagos State Government on Tuesday started a two-day training on forensic accounting for 50 accountants in the state workforce.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Dr Benson Akintola, said that fraud undermines public support for the government aside it reduces available resources to serve constituents.
Knowing these and wanting to better serve the people, he said the State Government decided to organise a two-day training on forensic accounting for its officers.
“The objective of this training programme are: reduction of corruption to the barest minimum, development of appropriate controls and installation of fraud detection response programmes.
“As we all know, accounting and auditing profession is linked with fraud deterrence , fraud detection, fraud investigation and to achieve this, forensic skill is required to help fight these fraud and crime scourge.”
