Mactay Consulting partners SAP to bridge skills gap in West Africa
As part of efforts to bridge skills gap between employability and the unemployed Mactay Consulting is partnering SAP, a vendor of ent erprise resource planning to become SAP education partner in West Africa.
According to the duo, the pact is poised to engage, mould professionals and business organisations regardless of their role equipping them to achieve enhanced productivity and development.
The partnership, which is described as a vision brought to life, will have Mactay Consulting providing existing and prospective SAP users more with less localizing SAP education content available globally and to build local capacity in Nigeria to become a hub for training in the West African region.
Speaking at the partnership conference in Lagos, Managing Director, Mactay Consulting, Mrs Elizabeth Rotimi, said: “We have been working towards bringing SAP closer to us. This partnership is not only beneficial to professionals but to the Nigerian economy.
“As this increases the value of our currency; prospective and existing SAP users do not need to travel out of Nigeria spending a lot of money to get trained. We are now available to provide more with less expenses”.
Education Account Executive for SAP East and West Africa, Naisula Keko, said SAP would be assisting West Africa in knowledge transfer and capacity building.
Keko said there has been a very huge gap between employability and the unemployed in Africa where we don’t have skills and many SAP skills within employers and employees.
“You can’t be a leader if you don’t train people. Training is important to reduce work place risk. We would be partnering with Mactay to deliver packages that is specific to the market. We would be having a local product with Mactay,” she said.
According to her, the long-term effect is to change the world and region, seeing more skills, more local consultants going into projects and implementation moving forward.
Chief Group Human Resource, Dangote Industries, Usen Udoh, highlighted the key to providing learning opportunities in an organization.
Udoh added: “Organisations which provide learning opportunities for their employees speak to the heart of the learning curve; reward people that coach people, spend money on-board people and reward people that go out of their way to help in the workplace.”
