NSE honours Azudialu-Obiejesi

Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has conferred honorary Fellowship on the Executive Chairman, Nestoil Limited, Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, at the 2017 edition of its yearly conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has conferred honorary Fellowship on the Executive Chairman, Nestoil Limited, Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, at the 2017 edition of its yearly conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Speaking at the ceremony held in Abuja, President NSE, Otis Anyaeji, said: “The society is honouring Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi with its Fellowship for his outstanding contributions to the engineering profession in Nigeria and accomplishments as a player in related sector”.

“Specifically, Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi’s enterprise and investment in the Oil and Gas sector have served as major catalysts for capacity building and innovation in Nigeria. Through his companies, he has provided platforms for engineers to demonstrate the value of our profession to the society via their competence”.

In his acceptance speech, Azudialu-Obiejesi, expressed gratitude for the recognition and gave assurance of his continued support to the development of engineering profession in Nigeria.

He said: “I am exceedingly grateful to council members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers for this recognition. It fills me with a sense of accomplishment”.

“As an entrepreneur whose enterprise revolves around pipeline construction, civil construction and steel fabrication, engineering design and construction, oil exploration and production, this recognition is indeed valuable to me, and will keep me committed to the engineering profession, which has today warmly embraced me,” the chairman stated.

A graduate of University of Benin and an Alumnus of the Harvard Business School Executive Education program, Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi is the Chairman of Obijackson Group, one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s fastest growing conglomerates. The Group comprises 13 different entities straddling Oil Servicing, Pipeline Construction, Exploration and Production, Telecommunications, Power, Aviation, Marine, Civil construction and Fabrication, Real Estate and Infrastructure.

Companies within the Obijackson Group include Nestoil (Nigeria’s largest indigenous EPCC company) Neconde Energy Limited (JV Partner in OML 42 with NPDC), Impac Oil and Gas Engineering Ltd, Gobowen Exploration and Production Limited; Hammakopp Consortium Limited, B&Q Dredging Limited, Energy Works Technology (EWT), Shipside Drydock Limited, Nesto Aviation Limited, Scorpio Drilling International Ltd; Century Power Limited, NestHak HDD Limited and White Dove Shipping Company Ltd.

He is a recipient of several local and international awards including the prestigious The Sun Newspaper ‘Businessman of the Year’ award in 2015, the West African Entrepreneur of the year in the Forbes All Africa Business Leaders Award (AABLA), the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) with an Industry Achievement Award and the Zik Outstanding Business Leadership Award. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Executive Business School.

He is also the Chairman of Smile Telecoms in Nigeria (a leading data services provider) and serves on the board of Julius Berger Plc. Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi is a philanthropist, social engineer and chairman of Obijackson Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation and provider of ultramodern health care services, education, poverty alleviation, community development, social welfare and youth empowerment.
