The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has urged the government to proactively rededicate itself to complete and total implementation of national reforms.

The oil workers said this is important not only in the petroleum sector but also in the entire economy to achieve a faster economic breakthrough.

NUPENG, in its 2020 Christmas and New Year message, signed by National President, Williams Akporeha and General Secretary, Olawale Afolabi, expressed gratitude to its members and other stakeholders who supported and stood by the union to achieve various purposeful milestones and feats in the year despite COVID-19 pandemic.

Among some of its achievements, the union said, is the commencement of the construction of the new national secretariat known as NUPENG Towers.

It said the union also implemented a new strain of policy direction and discipline among members in both formal and informal sectors.

“We set a new agenda and targets and equally took many radical and tough decisions in the overall interest of members. These very well thought out decisions have been yielding many positive and desirable results.

While counting on the goodwill, support, and cooperation of players in the sector’s value chain in the coming year 2021, the union pledged its commitment to deepening its gains as a rebranded union and applying social dialogue and best practices in dealing with industrial issues whenever they arise.
