Ogun moves to streamline skills acquisition, vocational training
The Ogun State government said it had commenced the process of streamlining skill acquisition programme as well as technical and vocational education across the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, according to a statement signed by the Press Officer, Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Training (OGUNTIVET), said the move would enable individuals, philanthropists, religious organisations, government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), among others, to meet up with the necessary pre-requisite considered for the establishment of such programmes.
Odemuyiwa said the step would address a plethora of skills and vocational training programmes and centres that fall within the ambit of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), to achieve its set goals and objectives.
He added that there should be evidence of competence in the form of a certificate issued or approved by the government, whenever a skill acquisition programme is organised.
The special adviser said the government had put in place seamless measures to ensure that TVET programmes were qualitatively delivered across the state, advising that any empowerment training should be done in partnership with relevant agencies of government.
