SPBS debuts, appoints trustees, officers

The Society for Professional Background Screeners (SPBS) is set to commence its activities as an independent non-profit trade association of professionals in Nigeria.
A statement by the chairman of SPBS, Kola Olugbodi, said the association aims to promote ethical business practices, foster awareness of the need for background check as a security risk imperative and establish acceptable and evidenced-based standards for background screening professionals in Nigeria.
He said SPBS would also advance industry objectives by providing the standards, competencies development, operating framework, support and forum for practice-exchange of innovation and ideas, with the use of technology.
The body would also promote best practices for professional background screeners in Nigeria while collaborating with enterprises and the government on the activities of background screeners. It would also educate and sensitise the public on background screening and related services
Meanwhile, the following officers have been elected to run the affairs of the association. They include Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Risk Control Services, Femi Ajayi, who is appointed as the chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Managing Director of Proton Security Services, Col. Ademola Onalaja (Rtd.), will serve as Secretary of the Board, while other members of the Board of Trustees are CEO, Halogen Group, Wale Olaoye; CEO, Background Check International, Kola Olugbodi, and CEO, Trapezoid Limited, Bolaji Olamiju.
