The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has presented N50, 000 cheques to each winner of the state’s empowerment scheme and charged them to invest the money into their businesses to help grow the state economy.

Ugwuanyi made the presentation at the fifth monthly raffle draw of the Enugu State Traders Empowerment Scheme held at Orie Orba International Market in Udenu local council of the state.

A total of 100 traders emerged winners in the draws. He noted that the state government embarked on the scheme in fulfillment of its promise to boost economic activities and to improve the lot of Enugu people.

He thanked the traders for their continued support, saying the scheme was the first of its kind in the state. “We have since repeated the ceremony at the headquarters of each of the three senatorial zones in the state,” he added.

He stated that the winners of the scheme would be drawn from 37 markets spread across the three senatorial zones of the state with the population of traders in each market as a major factor.

“We are, therefore, at the Orie Orba International Market to perform the lottery draw for traders in the market,” Ugwunayi added.
